Baseball Drops Road Contest At Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – UNC Pembroke scored six unanswered runs from the sixth inning on, but it wasn't enough as Coker took a 12-10 win over the Braves in non-conference action Tuesday evening at Tom J. New Field.

Landon Lucas and Jackson Crute each had two hits and two RBI, while Morgan Padgett and Boone Herman chipped in with two RBI apiece, as well.

UNCP allowed nine straight Coker runs after taking a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the third inning.

The Braves (26-15) fell to 35-15 all-time against the Cobras (12-29), and have now dropped four of the last six meetings against Coker.

The Black & Gold will be back in action Friday, April 17 as they head to Bristol, Tenn. for a Conference Carolinas series at King. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.

KEY INNINGS
BOT 1 Coker struck first on a Luke Miller RBI single and a two-run single from Peter Adams to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
TOP 2 Branton Jernigan worked a leadoff walk and eventually came home on a Coker error, while Morgan Padgett tied the score 3-3 with a two-run homer.
TOP 3 Jernigan extended the inning with a single, and would come around to score on Boone Herman's RBI infield single to give the Braves a 4-3 lead.
BOT 4 After Coker tied the game in the third, the hosts would score six more in the fourth on four hits, three walks, a hit by pitch, and an error to make it 10-4.
BOT 5 Coker tacked on two more runs with a Luke Peterson two-RBI single to stretch the lead to 12-4.
TOP 6 Padgett and Herman each worked walks and would both come home on a Daniel Stephens two-run single to cut it to 12-6.
TOP 8 After scratching for a run in the seventh, UNCP made it 12-9 on a two-RBI single from Landon Lucas.
TOP 9 Herman's sac fly cut it to 12-10, but Cooper Mitchell recorded a strikeout with the tying run at the plate to nail down the win.
