Converse Stuns Softball In Conference Tournament

DUNCAN, S.C. - Converse rattled off 11 hits to knock off the UNC Pembroke softball team in the Conference Carolinas Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Tyger River Park. 

UNCP was held to just six hits during the game, and CU added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh inning to help the Valkryies to a 5-3 victory.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
TOP 2 Charley Swartzel singled down the left field line and scored on a double from Alexis Felker. The Valkyries put runners on the corners with a single through the left side from Aubree Leonard, but a single down the left field line scored Felker. Kairra Thomas smacked a single to the outfield grass to drive in a run and give Converse a 3-0 lead. 
BOT 5  The Braves loaded the bases as Makayla Etling singled, Cirstin Calloway walked and Alex Serbio reached via an error. Emma Wrenn knocked a single through the left side to drive in a pair of runs and cut the deficit back to 3-2.
