AS A JUNIOR (2015): A member of the PBC Presidential Honor Roll ... Made five appearances, all in relief … Posted a 1-1 record and a 23.40 ERA in five innings pitched with five strikeouts and two walks … Saw first appearance in a UNCP uniform against Pitt-Johnstown … Picked up first UNCP victory with 2-1/3 innings of relief in game two against Columbus State … Struck out four and surrendered just two hits and one run against the Cougars.

BEFORE UNCP: Played two seasons (2013, 2014) at Louisburg College … Saw action in 13 games from the mound as a sophomore, including 12 starts … Posted a 4-6 record and a 4.42 ERA in 59 innings pitched with 31 strikeouts and 15 walks … Also turned in four complete games Saw action in 11 games from the mound as a freshman, including two starts … Posted a 1-0 record and a 1.50 ERA in 30 innings pitched with 29 strikeouts and 12 walks.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Knightdale High School for coach Andrew Vaglio … Earned all-conference honors as a prep senior after registering a 7-2 record and a 2.10 ERA in 55 innings pitched with 66 strikeouts … Helped lead Knights to a state playoff berth … Recorded a 9-3 record and a 2.31 ERA with 86 strikeouts in 61 innings of work as a junior.

PERSONAL: The son of Gale and Ricky Batts … Maintained a 3.8 cumulative grade point average at Knightdale High School and graduated in the top 11 percent of his 399-member senior class … A sports management major at UNCP.
