HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at North Moore High School for coach Mike West … Registered a 37-2 (.949) record as a prep senior, including 25 wins by pin … Earned all-conference honors and captured the conference title … Was also named conference wrestler of the year … Also won the region tournament and placed fourth at the state tournament … Advanced through to the round of 16 at Senior Nationals … Named most outstanding wrestler at the Chair City Classic … Turned in a 30-7 (.811) mark as a junior, including 21 wins by pin … Earned all-conference accolades and finished in the runner-up spot at the region and state tournaments … Also lettered in track & field and football  for the Mustangs … Earned all-conference nods as a starting linebacker for the football team.
