AS A SOPHOMORE (2017-18): NCAA Championships qualifier … First team All-ECAC selection ... Compiled a 31-16 (.660) record, including a 14-3 clip in dual meets … Turned in 10 bonus-point victories, including four wins, one tech fall and five major decisions … Went 19-11 against NCAA Division II competition … Earned trips to the podium at the Pembroke Classic (2^nd), the UCF Classic (T-3^rd) and the NCAA Midwest Super Regional (4^th) … Went 3-1 at the Pembroke Classic, with his lone setback coming in overtime against teammate Eric Milks in championship bout … Tallied a 2-2 mark at the Wolfpack Open, including a 13-2 major decision over West Virginia’s Luke Sorboro … Went 2-1 at the UCF Classic, including a 10-8 decision over teammate Brysen Thorpe in third place bout … Compiled a 4-3 record at the Citrus Invitational … Won his last 12 matches of the regular season, but had his 14-match win streak snapped with a loss to seventh-ranked Frank Yattoni of Wisconsin-Parkside in the semifinals of the NCAA Midwest Super Regional (won first two bouts at event) … Rebounded by taking two of his next three matches, including an 8-7 overtime win over Newberry’s Tyler Wicken in the true-fourth place bout … Dropped his NCAA Championships opener to top-ranked James Pleski of St. Cloud State, and then drew 11^th-ranked Logan Grass from Mercyhurst in the consolation bracket.
 
AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2016-17): All-ECAC selection … Compiled a 17-13 (.567) record, including an 11-8 clip in tournaments … Tallied three victories by pin and three others by major decision … Went 7-6 against NCAA Division II competition … Earned a trip to the podium at three tournaments … Posted a 2-1 record at the Pembroke Classic, but dropped a 5-2 decision to Central Florida’s Troy Worthen in the championship match … Went 2-1 at the UCF Open, but fell to Worthen by a 3-1 decision in the title bout … Placed fifth at the Midwest Classic … Tacked up five wins at the Citrus Invitational … Earned first collegiate dual meet victory with a 13-5 major decision over Spartanburg Methodist’s Chris Moungle … Also picked up dual meet wins against St. Andrews, Belmont Abbey, Limestone, Ferrum and Newberry … Posted a 1-2 record at the NCAA Midwest Super Regional … Dropped a tough 5-4 decision to third-ranked Brent Fickel of Ashland in his opening match, but rebounded with a tight 3-2 decision over King’s Ethyn Ewing in his consolation opener.
 
AS A FRESHMAN (2015-16): Redshirted … Competed in six tournaments as an unattached wrestler … Compiled a 15-10 (.600) record with four wins by pin and two others by major decision … Went 9-5 against NCAA Division II competition … Earned a trip to the podium at three tournaments … Tallied a 2-2 record in the season-opening The Citadel Open … Grabbed three wins at the Pembroke Classic … Registered a runner-up showing at the UCF Open … Strung together three-straight victories to place fifth at the Panther Open … Compiled a 4-2 record en route to a fifth place showing at the Newberry Open as well.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Urbana High School for coach Ben Arneson … Registered a 38-4 (.905) record as a prep senior and placed second at the state tournament … Also won the region title and was a finalist at the county tournament … Helped lead Hawks to a runner-up finish at the county and region tournaments for the second-straight year … Turned in a 24-11 (.686) record as a junior and placed sixth at the region tournament … Was also a finalist at the county tournament.
 
PERSONAL: The son of Christina and Douglas Makosy … Has two younger brothers, Jake and Kevin … Maintained a 4.0 cumulative grade point average at Urbana High School and graduated in the top 20 percent of his 390-member senior class … An exercise physiology major at UNCP.
