AS A FRESHMAN (2018): Saw action in 16 games from the mound, including 11 starts … Registered a 4-1 record and a 5.62 ERA in 64 innings pitched with 52 strikeouts and 18 walks … Limited opponents to a .306 (82-for-268) batting average … Committed one error in 13 total defensive chances for a .923 fielding percentage … Made his collegiate debut in game two with Shepherd, striking out two and yielding just one hit in an inning of scoreless relief … Struck out four and allowed just two hits and a pair of earned runs in his first collegiate start against Augusta, but was not awarded a decision … Notched first victory of campaign in game two against Lander after striking out a season-best nine batters over five innings from the hill … Struck out seven batters and did not allow a run over 6-1/3 innings in game two with USC Aiken on the way to notching his second victory … Tallied five strikeouts in five innings of work and grabbed the victory in the series finale with Georgia Southwestern … Surrendered just two runs in 6-1/3 innings of work and picked up the win over Lander in the PBC Tournament … Threw a season-high 113 pitches in the NCAA Southeast Regional win over Lincoln Memorial, but did not get a decision.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Wheatmore High School for coach Jon Spell … Earned second-straight all-conference and all-county honors as a senior after posting a 1.20 ERA with 105 strikeouts in 46 innings pitched.
 
PERSONAL: The son of Jami and Tim Smith … Has an older brother, Cory … Maintained a 4.0 cumulative grade point average and graduated in the top 11 percent of his 270-member senior class … An exercise & sports science major at UNCP.
