BraveHawk is the face of our athletics department and UNC Pembroke's #1 fan! You can see UNC Pembroke’s beloved mascot at football games, basketball games, pep rallies and more!. Bravehawk, along with our Spirit Squad, is the master of entertainment! He can be seen spreading spirit throughout our campus and at various athletic events at UNC Pembroke and throughout the Carolinas.
We are in search of high energy, creative individuals who can personify the spirit of BraveHawk!
The role of BraveHawk is a scholarship position! The individual(s) selected will be rewarded with the scholarship amount for the length of their participation as long as they uphold the rules designated by the Spirit Squad program. This includes attending one dance and one cheer practice per week, along with Tuesday and Thursday strength & conditioning workouts.
Cheer Practice Times: Monday & Wednesday, 4-6 p.m.; Friday 4-5 p.m.
Dance Practice Times: Tuesday & Thursday, 4-6 p.m.; Friday 4-5 p.m.
Strength & Conditioning Sessions: Tuesday & Thursday 6-7 p.m.
| TRYOUT REQUIREMENTS |
- Must be able to perform simple dance and/or cheerleading moves.
- Must be in good physical condition.
- Must be able to have high energy for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to promote crowd involvement at games and events.
- Must have high level of creativity
- Tumbling, jumps and dancing skills are preferred but not required.

| ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS |
- Undergraduates be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours per academic semester, 9 hours for graduate students
- Must have and maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average
