BEFORE UNCP: Played two seasons at Santa Fe College … Saw action in nine games from the mound as a sophomore, all in relief … Posted a 0-0 record and a 12.86 ERA in seven innings pitched with four strikeouts and five walks … Did not allow a run in three of his first four appearances of the season … Made nine appearances as a freshman, including one start … Tallied a 0-0 record and a 0.00 ERA in 10-1/3 innings of work … Struck out 13 batters and walked six … Allowed just a lone unearned run, and limited opponents to a .121 batting average … Did not allow a run through his first five collegiate appearances.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Keystone Heights Junior/Senior High School for coach Alan Mattox … Earned all-state, all-region and all-area honors as a senior after leading the Indians to a state championship … Posted a 7-1 record and a 2.33 ERA in 30 innings pitched, and added 49 strikeouts as well … Also lettered in basketball and football for the Indians as well.
