A veteran collegiate coach with a national championship pedigree, Ryan Brown enters his third season in the Black & Gold after joining the Braves as an assistant coach in August 2022.

Brown trekked to Pembroke from Tigerville, S.C., as an integral part of the coaching staff at his alma mater, North Greenville. He also has a previous coaching stop as an assistant coach at Lexington (S.C.) High School in 2019.
Brown played a key role in helping lead one of the best offenses in the country in 2024, as the Braves hit .329 as a team and broke the single-season school record for home runs with 92, while finishing inside the top-15 in Division II in batting average, on base percentage, slugging percentage, runs per game, hits, doubles, home runs, and walks.Â

Brown helped lead North Greenville to 88 victories across two seasons (2021-22), including a 54-win campaign in 2022 that culminated in the program’s first national championship. He mentored a quartet of All-American selections while with the Crusaders, as well as eight all-region and 14 All-Conference Carolinas selections as well. North Greenville won a pair of Conference Carolinas titles with Brown on staff, while also capturing a pair of NCAA Tournament berths.

A 60-game starter for the College of Charleston as a freshman in 2015, he picked up Freshman All-American honors after hitting .320 with 21 extra-base hits (5 HR) and 26 RBI on the way to pacing the Cougars to a spot in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. A member of the Colonial Athletic Association’s (CAA) All-Freshman Team, the leadoff hitter ranked as one of the nation’s toughest batters to strike out after logging just 26 strikeouts in 244 at-bats (1:9.4).

Brown transferred to North Greenville as a junior and hit .310 (110-for-355) across the 2017 and 2018 campaigns, while also registering 40 extra-base hits (12 HR), 74 RBI and 110 runs scored. He was successful on 37 of his 40 career stolen base attempts, including an impressive 23-for-24 clip as a senior. He struck out just 37 times in 355 career at-bats in Tigerville (1:9.6).

A native of Lexington, S.C., Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management from North Greenville in 2018, and completed his master’s in business administration (MBA) at NGU in 2021.
