AS A JUNIOR (2010)
Saw action in 43 games, including 26 starts in left field and 12 starts at designated hitter … Posted a .310 batting average in 145 at-bats with 33 runs scored on 45 hits, including 21 extra-base hits (14 HR) and 53 RBI … Tallied a team-best .648 slugging percentage and a .401 on-base percentage … Also drew 15 walks and was hit by pitch seven times … Registered a 1-for-2 success rate on stolen base attempts … Booked 11 multiple-hit games and 14 multiple-RBI games … Also scored two or more runs in nine contests … Committed one error in 26 total chances for a .962 fielding percentage … Hit 2-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI in the season opener at Coker … Turned in a 6-for-12 (.500) series against Bloomfield with three home runs, one double, three walks, nine RBI and four runs scored … Homered in each of final three games of the series … Followed up that series performance with a 3-for-5 day at Pfeiffer with four RBI and three runs scored … Turned in a .556 (5-for-9) series against Chowan with three home runs, eight RBI, three walks and five runs scored … Homered twice in the first game with the Hawks, and then hit another four-bagger in game two … Hit 3-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI and three runs scored in a home rout of St. Andrews.

AS A FRESHMAN (2008)
Saw action in 51 games, including 44 starts at designated hitter and five starts in left field … Posted a .303 batting average in 185 at-bats with 33 runs scored on 56 hits, including 19 extra-base hits (14 HR) and 38 RBI … Tallied a .557 slugging percentage and a .351 on-base percentage … Also drew 12 walks and was hit by pitch three times … Registered a 1-for-2 success rate on stolen base attempts … Booked 18 multiple-hit games and 10 multiple-RBI games … Also scored two or more runs in six contests … Did not commit an error in five total chances in recording a 1.000 fielding percentage … Went hitless in one at-bat to open his career, but then reeled off at least one hit in his next 12 games, recording a .511 (24-for-47) batting average during that same time frame … Recorded first two collegiate home runs on a perfect 4-for-4 outing in the front half of a doubleheader with St. Augustine’s … Logged a .636 (7-for-11) series against East Stroudsburg with a double, five RBI and four runs scored … Homered in each of the next two games at Pfeiffer (2-for-4) and Wingate (3-for-5) … Registered two hits apiece in each of the last two games of a series with Francis Marion, including a multi-homer day in the series finale with the Patriots … Hit 4-for-9 in two starts against North Georgia, including a 2-for-5, two-home run day in game two against the Saints … Three days later, recorded a 3-for-5, two-home run day at Coker.

HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB
A two-time all-conference standout at Elkin High School for coach Jack Thornberg … Played travel ball with the Carolina Hurricanes … Was also a standout football and basketball player for the Elks … Helped lead the football team to three state championships, while also being lauded with all-conference and all-state honors.

The son of Diane and Skip Whitman was born on Oct. 8, 1988 … Has two older brothers, Court and Clint, one older sister, Crista, and one younger brother, Kyle … Father is a graduate of West Point … Brother, Court, played football for Virginia Military Institute (VMI) … Maintained a 3.78 cumulative grade point average at Elkins High School and was a member of the Honor Society … A biology major at UNCP.
