HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Fairmont High School for coach Sandy Thorndyke … Earned second consecutive all-conference honors, as well as county pitcher of the year nods, as a senior … Registered an 8-2 record and a 1.12 ERA in 14 appearances from the hill with 98 strikeouts and 17 walks in 62-2/3 innings pitched … Also hit .471 (33-for-70) with seven extra-base hits (1 HR), 16 RBI and 35 runs scored … Was also 15-for-15 on stolen base attempts … Tallied a 5-5 record and a 2.04 ERA in 10 appearances as a junior with 55 strikeouts and 17 walks in 55 innings pitched.
