AS A JUNIOR (2017): Saw action in 21 games from the hill, including one start … Recorded a 3-0 record, a 4.20 ERA and one save in 40.2 innings pitched with 43 strikeouts and 23 walks … Held opponents to a .248 batting average … Allowed just six extra-base hits in 157 at-bats … Allowed just one earned run in his first four appearances and 9.1 innings pitched … Matched a season-high with five strikeouts and allowed just one hit in three scoreless innings of work on the way to picking up the save in game two of the series with Lake Erie … Earned first career start in game two of the series with Chowan and grabbed the win in a pre-determined rotation after matching a season-high with five strikeouts and allowing just two hits in four scoreless innings of work … Earned the win in relief in the series finale at Georgia Southwestern, scattering two hits and one run over two innings on the mound … Recorded the final out in the fifth inning in the PBC Tournament win over North Georgia to earn the victory in relief.

PERSONAL: The son of Kimberly and Mark Masterson … Has two older brothers, Brett and Mark … Mark was a four-year letterwinner in football at Maine … Late uncle, Walter, started for the American League in the 1948 MLB All-Star game as a member of the Washington Senators (also played for the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers) … A physical education major at UNCP.
