Prepped at Pinehurst High School under coach Jeff Moody in his senior year and Michael Swofford in his junior season … Lettered in cross country and track and field … Garnered two-time all-conference and all-region honors for cross country and track and field … Assisted the squad in becoming back-to-back regional champions and place third at the state championships his senior year … In his senior year, he ran the 800m (2:00.91), 1600m run (4:30.87) and 5000m run (16:22.00) and improved on his time from his junior campaign in the 800m (2:01.75), 1600m (4:32.84) and 5000m (16:34.00).
