Matthew Stuck

A seasoned coaching veteran with stops at three other NCAA Division II institutions, including a one-year stint at nearby Coker, Matthew Stuck begins his fourth year as an assistant coach the cross country program in 2021-22. Stuck served as an assistant coach for the track & field program his first two season, and was promoted to associate head coach in June 2020.

Stuck has coached both sprints and jumps at four institutions over a successful eight-year coaching career. After a one-year stint as an assistant strength & conditioning coach at Susquehanna, Stuck made his coaching debut as an assistant coach at Ithaca where his student-athletes established four school records, including new program marks in the women's pole vault (indoor & outdoor).

A two-year stint (2014-16) at Michigan Tech produced a slew of postseason recognition as Jevon Maddox booked his ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 400-meter Hurdles, while Nathan Hood picked up USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the Long Jump. Stuck's student-athletes also eclipsed 12 school records over his stay in Houghton, Mich., as well.

His knack for success landed him a role as interim head coach for a successful program at Lake Erie in 2016 where he mentored his first all-American in senior Nadia Lee who earned the accolade with an eighth-place finish at the 2017 NCAA Championships in the Triple Jump. The success in Painesville, Ohio, was marked by several other honors as well, including a pair of national qualifiers, two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) individual champions and both the GLIAC Women's Field Athlete and Freshman Field Athlete of the Year awards. Nine school records also fell with Stuck at the reins of the program.

A multi-event performer for Bloomsburg from 2010 to 2013, Stuck set a school record in the pole vault as a senior with a jump of 4.65 meters, while also qualifying for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships to conclude each of his four years as a collegian. His four-year collegiate career, which saw him excel in 16 different disciplines, included school records in two events, as well as a Bloomsburg University Scholar-Athlete honor.

Stuck holds both a USTFCCCA Level 2 Combined Event and USATF Level 1 Track and Field certification. He earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Bloomsburg in 2013, and received his master's degree in kinesiology from Michigan Tech in 2016.
