AS A FRESHMAN (2013)
As a defender, he played in 12 games with nine starts to his credit as he recorded 713 minutes on the field … Took eight shots this season including a season high two shots against Mount Olive, Erskine and USC Aiken … Also tallied one shot each against Mars Hill and Anderson … Assisted in holding Mars Hill, Georgia Southwestern and Mount Olive to 10 or less shots during the game … Helped UNCP post six shutouts during the season over Mars Hill, Georgia Southwestern, Barton, Montevallo, Lander and Mount Olive … Assisted UNCP in goals-against average (1.32) and allowed 23 goals this season … The defense held opponents to a .090 shot percentage … Recorded a season-high 109 minutes in the loss to Anderson and a complete 90 minutes against Lander, Young Harris and USC Aiken … UNCP skyrocketed to No. 15 in the national rankings for the second time in the Phil Hindson era after starting the season with a 5-1-0 record … During the season, the Braves shutout then-No. 3 Lander to mark one of the biggest wins in school history from a rankings standpoint.

HIGH SCHOOL
Prepped at North Lincoln High School under coach Tim Harris … A three-year letterman in soccer and one-year letterman in baseball … In his senior season, he captained the Knights to a 14-8-1 record on the field to advance to the second round of the playoffs and anchored a defense that logged nine shutouts ... Garnered laurels as an all-conference and all-region selection, as well as being named to the 2012 Lake Norman All-Lake Team and 2012 Boys Soccer Player of the Year by the Denver Weekly … During his junior campaign, he was moved to a forward for the first time in his career and set the school record in goals in a season (21) while dishing out 12 assists … Was also selected as captain and was recognized as a two-time athlete of the week and an all-conference and all-region player … Played club soccer for the FC Carolina Alliance (FCCA) under coach Kyle Gookings and the NC Region III ODP Team under coach Justin Maullin … His FCCA team made it to the state semi-finals at the premier level in 2012 … Played premiere club soccer in San Diego, Calif., prior to his family's relocation during his freshman year.

The son of Valerie and Jim Gannaway … Has two younger brothers, Justin and Ryan … Graduated with a 3.4 cumulative grade point average … On the A/B Honor Roll during his junior and senior years, while also placing first in the N.C.
