AS A JUNIOR (2012)
Named an NSCAA All-South Region Scholar, was a member of the PBC All-Academic team and PBC Presidential Honor Roll and was the PBC Defensive Player of the Week on October 15 … As a defender, he played in 19 games with 19 starts to his credit to record 1704 minutes on the field … Finished the season with four points as he notched four assists … Recorded back-to-back assists in the victories against Francis Marion and North Georgia to Rico Laitinen and Sean Hoek, respectively … Claimed another back-to-back assist in the shutout wins with Young Harris and Pfeiffer to teammates Martin Tomter and Matt MacDougall, respectively … Took 11 shots, three of which (.273) were on goal … Registered a season-high two shots against Chowan and Barton … Assisted in holding Mount Olive, Wingate, Georgia Southwestern, Barton and Pfeiffer to less than 10 shots during the game … Helped UNCP post 10 shutouts during the season … UNCP was second in the PBC in goals-against average (0.72) and only allowed 14 goals which was also second in the league … The defense held opponents to a .051 shot percentage … Recorded 110 minutes in the standstill contest with Mars Hill and in the loss to Flagler in the second round of the NCAA Tournament … Contributed to this season’s school record in number of goals in a single game (10) and largest margin of victory (10) against Chowan, and minimum shots allowed in a game (3) against Barton … Helped UNCP rank fourth in save percentage (0.861), ninth in shutout percentage (0.53), 12th in team goals against average (0.72), 18th in total assists (39) and 25th in scoring offense (2.26) in the nation … Contributed to the squad matching its third-best finish in 20 years (NCAA Division II era) with 12 wins … Helped the Braves make history in 2012 as they advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament for the first time in 10 years.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2011)
A member of the PBC Presidential Honor Roll as a Silver Scholar ... As a midfielder, he played in all 18 games with 15 starts to his credit to record 1,200 minutes … Finished the season with nine points on three goals and three assists … Took 21 shots, 11 of which (.524) were on goal … Scored his first goal of the season in the 61st minute to register the game-winning goal of the 3-0 shutout victory over Queens (N.C.) … Posted two back-to-back goals within 10 minutes, including the game-winning goal, and one assist for Adam Smith in the 10-1 win over Chowan …  Collected his two other assists on Sam Miles’ goals in the game against Brevard (4-0) and Barton (5-0) … Totaled a season best five shots against Chowan, three against Queens (N.C.), Mount Olive and Georgia Southwestern … Notched two shots against Brevard and one shot against Mount five other opponents … Contributed to this season’s school record in number of goals in a single game in a season against Chowan … Helped UNCP rank 19th in scoring offense (2.39), 22nd in total goals (43), 17th in team goals against average (0.8), 35th in shutout percentage (0.39), 34th in W-L-T percentage (.667) and 34th in save percentage (0.805) in the nation … A member of the squad that earned the PBC Team Sportsmanship Award.

BEFORE UNCP

Played one year at Roger Williams in Bristol, R.I. under coach Jim Cook … During his freshman year, he played and started in all 19 games for the Hawks … He scored nine points on four goals and one assist  … Took 34 shots, 16 of which (.471) were on goal … Registered one game winning goal and scored two goals against Eastern Nazarene on Oct. 23.

HIGH SCHOOL
Prepped at St. John’s High School under coach Ryan Gates … Lettered in soccer and was the team leader in goals and assists his senior year where he was an all-conference and all-district selection … During his senior year, the Pioneers posted an overall record of 19-2 and were district and league champions … As a junior, he was named to the all-conference and all-district teams as well as being awarded MVP during the playoff and the finals … Led the team in assists as the Pioneers went 18-2 overall.

PERSONAL
The son of Melissa and Richard MacDonald … Has one older brother, Andrew, and a younger sister, Jill … Graduated in the top-half of his senior class at St. John’s while maintaining a 3.33 cumulative grade point average … A member of National Honor Society and Ping Pong Club … A biology major at UNCP.
