HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Ashe County High School for coach Shane Greene … Named all-conference and all-region as a senior … Also co-captained the cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field teams … Named most valuable runner on both cross country and indoor track & field squads … Qualified for state championship in cross country and indoor track & field … Won conference title in 1600-meter run … Also broke school records in the 800- and 1600-meter run … Helped lead cross country and outdoor track & field teams to state titles … Posted personal-best times in the 5K (16:48), the 3200-meter run (10:08), the 1600-meter run (4:41) and the 800-meter run (2:05) … Was also an all-conference performer in wrestling at Ashe County.
