Frank Fazzino Headshot

Frank Fazzino

A veteran coach with a championship pedigree. Frank Fazzino begins his third year as an assistant coach with the UNC Pembroke track & field squads in 2024-25, serving a dual role as the throws coach for the Braves, as well as an athletic performance coach with the program.

Fazzino trekked to Pembroke after serving five seasons on the staff at Husson (NCAA Division III) in Bangor, Maine, where he helped lead the Eagles programs to four North Atlantic Conference team crowns, as well as five runner-up finishes. He mentored nine all-conference performers in cross country, while also overseeing the training of 18 individual NAC champions in track field. With Fazzino on staff in a dual role as the program’s strength & conditioning coach as well, Husson’s student-athletes established new school records in a combined 29 indoor track & field disciplines, as well as 35 outdoor track & field events.

Prior to his move to the northeast, Fazzino spent three seasons (2015-17) on the staff at Mansfield in Pennsylvania where he mentored a trio of All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference throwers, including a second team All-American, as well as a pair of qualifiers for the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships, as well. His first stint on a collegiate staff was in a graduate assistant role at Southern Arkansas during the 2014 and 2015 campaigns.

Fazzino dove into the coaching world immediately as the head coach at Irvington (N.Y.) High School in 2010. Across five seasons (2010-14) as both the boys and girls coach at the prep school just north of New York City, the Bulldogs combined to rake in six league championships, while the boys squad staked claim to four conference titles.

An All-Conference performer in the shot put from 2005-09, Fazzino helped lead SUNY Albany to eight America East Conference team titles, and still ranks among the program’s top 10 shot put performers. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from SUNY Albany in 2009, and completed his graduate work in organizational leadership at Mansfield in 2017.
