Brea Hartley

Brea Hartley enters his second season as an assistant coach with the UNCP softball team for the 2016-17 academic year. Hartley continues her coaching role for the Braves after her time as a student-athlete and ample experience as a youth coach. She will be responsible for assisting the coaching staff in practice and games along with the day-to-day responsibilities.

During her time on the softball team, Hartley was named a 2013 Daktronics All-American, a school record holder in career grand slams (2) and career sacrifice fly (9), while also being named a three-time NCCSIA All-State, three-time Preseason All-PBC, three time all-PBC, two-time NFCA All-Region, two-time Daktronics All-Region, two-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll selection, PBC Freshman of the Week and two-time PBC Player of the Week. 

As a SAAC representative and officer, Hartley helped to raise donations for the Make-A-Wish foundation, and canned food items for the UNCP Food Bank. She was in attendance as a representative of UNCP at the PBC-hosted Women In Athletics Seminar. 

Hartley capped off her time as a student-athlete as one of the most decorated softball players in school history. In her four years on the field, she played in 194 contests with 574 at-bats, 104 runs, 203 hits, 43 doubles, six triples, 25 homers, 124 RBI, 46 walks, 19 stolen bases, a .354 batting average, .419 on-base percentage and a .580 slugging percentage. She was also a member of the team that was garnered the PBC Team Sportsmanship Award in back-to-back years.

While working as an assistant coach for the Carolina Attitude Fastpitch Organization, she was responsible for leading the 18U team to 37 wins in the summer of 2014, along with seven tournament championships, recruiting new players, designing practices and equipment and drill set up. Hartley has also gained work experience as a nanny and recreational league baseball coach.

She graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in sports administration from UNCP in May of 2015 and she currently resides in Pembroke.
