AS A SOPHOMORE (2010-11): Competed in one tournament as an unattached wrestler … Tallied a 5-2 record at The Citadel Open en route to capturing fourth place honors … Registered a pair of pins … Dropped a tight 4-2 decision to Appalachian State’s Chris Johnson in the third place bout.

BEFORE UNCP: Competed as a freshman (2009-10) for Lindsey Wilson … Tallied a 16-10 (.615) record, including an 11-4 mark in tournaments … Also tallied one win by technical fall and two others by major decision … Earned a trip to the NJCAA National Championships – the first Blue Raider in program history to accomplish that task.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Parkland High School for coach Maurice Atwood … Turned in a 55-5 (.917) record en route to his third-straight all-conference laurels … Helped lead Parkland to a perfect 28-0 season and the state championship … Earned his second-straight appearance at the state tournament … Made an appearance in the state finals as a senior … Was also a two-time all-conference performer in football at Parkland, as well as a standout on the track & field team.

PERSONAL: The son of Connie Fyfe and Brian Sherman was born on Feb. 3, 1991 … Has two older brothers, Bryce and Brandon … Bryce is currently a running back at Winston-Salem State, while Brandon is a former football player at Howard … Uncle, Ricky Melvin, was an all-conference basketball player for then-Pembroke State (1982-85) and is a member of UNCP's 1,000-point club … Maintained a 3.5 cumulative grade point average at Parkland High School … A psychology major at UNCP.
