Andrew Colborn

An accomplished student-athlete on the mat for the UNC Pembroke wrestling team from 2015-19, Andrew Colborn begins his fourth season as an assistant coach with the Braves in 2022-23.

Colborn racked up nearly 20 wins across two seasons of competition for the Black & Gold, including a sophomore campaign that watched him tack up 13 victories as a heavyweight wrestler, as well as a trip to the podium at the Citrus Invitational. He tacked up six more wins in the 197-pound division as a junior before a nagging shoulder injury cut his season short.

The Newport native was a four-time state place-winner for Croatan High School, including a 2014-15 campaign that saw him register a perfect 29-0 record on the way to a state championship. That run followed a 54-4 junior season that, inevitably, helped Croatan capture both the conference and region champions.

An active member of UNCP’s chapter of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Colborn served as secretary of the organization in 2018-19 before transitioning into the coaching world. He has also served a stint as an instructor with UNCP’s Swim School.

Colborn graduated with his bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology from UNCP in May 2021.
