AS A FRESHMAN (2013-14): Redshirted … Competed in The Citadel Open as an unattached wrestler … Turned in an 0-2 record.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at North Johnston High School for coach and former UNCP wrestler Jonathan Hartley … Finished his prep career with a 106-34 (.757) clip … Registered a 48-5 (.906) mark as a prep senior and captured his second-straight all-conference and all-county nods … Earned tournament championship honors at five separate events … Also served as captain and captured his team’s leadership award … Tallied a 47-12 (.797) record as a junior, as well as a trio of tournament championships … Also lettered in football, golf and track & field for the Panthers … Earned the football team’s Iron Man Award, while also grabbing a pair of all-conference nods in relay events for the track squad.

PERSONAL: The son of Michelle and Mark Stephenson … Has an older sister, Brittany … Maintained a 3.4 cumulative grade point average at North Johnston High School and graduated in the top 22 percent of his 156-member senior class … A history education major at UNCP.
