AS A JUNIOR (2019-20): Posted a 3-2 (.600) mark, including a 2-0 clip in dual meets … Registered two wins via pin and one other by major decision … Claimed a dual meet win over Lander’s Brice Harkness for first victory of season … Won two matches in the dual with Spartanburg Methodist, including an exhibition victory over Alberto Vargas-Perez.
 
AS A SOPHOMORE (2018-19): Registered a 6-6 (.500) record, including a 4-4 mark in tournament settings … Tallied five wins via pin and one other by major decision … Made one trip to the podium – a third-place finish at the UCF Classic … Turned in a 3-1 record at the UCF Classic, with all three wins coming with bonus points (two pins) … Won his only dual match of the season via a first-period pin of East Stroudsburg’s Collin Stevens.

AS A FRESHMAN (2017-18): Redshirted … Competed in three tournaments as an unattached wrestler … Posted a 5-5 (.500) record, all in tournament action … Logged one win via pin, one tech fall and one major decision … Earned a trip to the podium with a third-place showing at the UCF Classic … Went 2-2 at the Pembroke Classic, including a 7-2 decision over Kavoris Perry of St. Andrews … Compiled a 3-1 clip at the UCF Classic, pinning Florida A&M’s Ulrick Cherichel in his opening match … Also turned in a tech fall and a major decision at that event.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Millbrook High School for coach Scott Saby … Earned all-conference accolades, as well as his second-state trip to the state tournament, as a senior after registering a 48-8 (.857) record … Captured the conference crown, while also picking up academic all-conference honors … Tallied a 48-8 mark as a junior as well.
 
PERSONAL: The son of Ninamarie Detomaso-Engel and Michael Engel … Has a twin brother, Christopher … Maintained a 3.0 cumulative grade point average at Millbrook High School … A criminal justice major at UNCP.
