MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Senior Michael Davis tied the match up in the 83rd minute to send the UNCP men's soccer team into overtime on Saturday evening as the Braves and Peach Belt Conference rival Montevallo finished with a 1-1 tie at Varsity Field in Montevallo, Ala.

Davis headed the ball into the goal to register his third goal of the season, while Braxton Perkins collected the only assist on the free kick. The Braves (9-3-2, 2-2-2 PBC) trailed Montevallo (9-3-4, 4-1-2) for less than five minutes after Mike Rinzema scored the only goal for the Falcons.

UNCP and Montevallo played a scoreless first half as the Falcons outshot the Braves 17-6. Montevallo shot twice during the overtime periods and stopped UNCP from shooting to send the game to a standstill.

Leading the Black and Gold in shots with two was Davis, while Martin Tomter, Sam Miles, Perkins and Adam Smith each had one. Goalkeeper Ryan Hanson collected four saves in his 110 minutes in between the pipes. 

Tyson Eyo led the Falcons with three shots while five other players tallied two apiece. Brendan Ledgeway grabbed one save for Montevallo which occurred in the second half on the shot by Smith.

UNCP will make the short trip to Florence, S.C., in its last regular season road game to take on conference rival Francis Marion (4-10-1, 2-3-1) on Wednesday at FMU Soccer Field. The match is slated to start at 4 p.m.
