Box Score 2 DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Fifth-ranked North Georgia pushed six runs across the board in the bottom of the sixth inning to down the UNCP softball squad by an 11-2 final in six innings in the first game of Tuesday's Peach Belt Conference doubleheader in Dahlonega, Ga.
The Lady Braves (17-16, 5-6 PBC) were held to four hits during the contest while the Saints (31-8, 7-2 PBC) were able to match their run and hit totals to capture their fifth-straight victory in the series.
After North Georgia opened up the scoring in the bottom of the second inning by pushing three runs across the board, the Lady Braves answered back with two runs in the ensuing half inning. Senior Courtney Hill singled to centerfield to score fellow senior Lynn Grantham and freshman Schanique Barrett in order.
The Lady Braves would be held to one hit the rest of the way while the Saints would add two more in their half of the third inning and six in the bottom of the sixth to capture the win.
Sophomore Starr Gilley was tabbed with the loss after allowing three runs (one earned) in 1-1/3 innings.
Hill finished the game by going 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and Barrett added two hits in three at-bats with a run scored.
