YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. –
Young Harris used a three-run homer from Taylor Beauchamp in the third inning to score the game-winning runs as the Mountain Lions shook off the visiting UNC Pembroke softball team on Monday afternoon in the first game of the Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at E.D. Rivers Field.

UNCP (17-16, 5-6 PBC) fell in its fourth-straight loss, while Young Harris (18-20, 6-3) captured its third-consecutive win after sweeping Francis Marion on Sunday.

Sister duo Kaytee Wilson and Karlee Wilson led the Lady Braves with two hits, while Whitney Jackson, Brea Hartley and Megan Hillard posted one hit apiece to assist UNCP in totaling seven team hits. Sophomore Caitlin Steel and Kaytee Wilson notched an RBI each as Hillard and Karlee Wilson scored UNCP's runs.

The Mountain Lions also finished the game with seven hits as Sydnee Weaver went 3-for-3 with one run scored, while Beauchamp tallied a team-best three RBI.

Senior Natalie Klemann (10-6) suffered her second-straight loss in the middle for the Lady Braves after going six innings and giving up four earned runs on seven hits and one walk. Young Harris's Darby Stanford (7-8) took the win as she went six inning and allowed two earned runs on six hits, before Brittany Henry notched her second save of the season after grabbing the final three outs and giving up one hit.

Young Harris put up its first run of the game in the second inning as Lindsay Tudor doubled to left field and was brought home on a sacrifice fly by Brittany Olson. Just an inning later, Weaver reached on a triple, while Chandler Stooksbury advanced to first on a walk before Beauchamp sent her tater over the left field fence for a 4-0 lead.

The Lady Braves attempted a seventh inning comeback as eight batters stepped up to bat in the final inning. Hillard opened the inning with a base hit to left field and moved over on a single up the middle by Karlee Wilson. Using Morgan Davis's sacrifice bunt to move runners to second and third, both Kaytee Wilson and Steel brought the runners on base home to bring the game to within only two runs. The Black and Gold were unable to close out the game with a victory despite having bases loaded at the time of the final out.
