PEMBROKE - The UNC Pembroke volleyball team was shutout by Peach Belt Conference competitor Augusta, 3-0, on Tuesday evening on Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court inside a loud English E. Jones Center on Dig Pink Night with set scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-12.
The Braves (3-14, 0-5 PBC) dropped their fourth-straight contest, while Augusta (10-3, 4-2) clinched its fourth victory in league play.
Senior Nicole Mathews notched a team-best seven kills and seven digs, while also adding three block assists to UNCP's seven total blocks (12 block assists). Sophomore Ka'asha Jefferies led the defensive effort by collecting 15 digs, while setters Jenna Dunsmore and Bailee Jones combined for 10 of the Braves' 14 assists.
The Jaguars registered a .324 hitting percentage and delivered 48 kills in the match. Both Jordan Bickett and Katie Beresford posted double-digit kills, while Blair Bolton and Rachel Windle each added eight. Setter Alyssa Latham dished out 39 assists as Catherine DeSilvester and Kali Boatwright were behind 15 and 14 digs, respectively.
The Braves will kick off a two-game road trip beginning on Friday with a matchup against PBC foe Francis Marion (9-4, 3-2) in Florence, S.C. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. inside the Smith University Center.
