DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Junior
Kate Weisner buried her fifth goal of the season off a pass from
Katie Watkins in the 42nd-minute to give the UNC Pembroke soccer team a 1-0 lead over host North Georgia, but the Nighthawks found goals in the 73rd- and 82nd-minutes to complete the comeback and escape with a 2-1 victory a critical Peach Belt Conference (PBC) contest Saturday afternoon in Dahlonega.

FIRST HALF
-The Nighthawks took the first eight shots and three corner kicks of the match, but UNCP keeper
Gina Ryan was forced to make just two saves in the first 37 minutes.
-Weisner's uncorked the Braves' first shot of the day in the 39th-minute, but it was blocked away by a North Georgia defender.
-Just under four minutes later and with 3:13 on the clock in the opening half, Weisner slipped behind the Nighthawk netminder who had fallen down and punched in the game's first goal off a lofted ball from Watkins.
SECOND HALF
-The Braves took just three shots in the second half, but played stellar defense for the first 27 minutes coming out of the break before North Georgia finally broke through in the 73th-minute.
-North Georgia's Renee VanHorn rolled a shot past the outstretched arm of
Gina Ryan and off the left post for the Nighthawk's first goal of the match at the 72:50 mark.
-Eight minutes later, North Georgia's Olivia Dumphy blasted a shot from 22 yards out past a leaping
Gina Ryan for the eventual game winner in the 82nd-minute.
-Weisner forced the Nighthawks' Hannah Goudy to make her second save of the match in the 83rd-minute and fired another shot in the 89th-minute that was blocked.
NOTABLES
-With today's result, the Braves fall into a tie for fourth in the PBC standings with Young Harris. The top four teams in the standings after next Saturday will host a quarterfinal match, while teams five through eight will hit the road in the first round of the league tournament.
-The setback snaps UNCP's eight-match unbeaten streak that dated back to Sept. 28.
-Weisner's goal was her fifth of the season, which ties
Alexis Pittman for the second most on the team. Watkins's assist was her first of the season.
-Weisner accounted for four of the five UNCP shots (two on goal), while
Carly Rochelle put one on net.

Gina Ryan made seven saves in net and allowed multiple goals for just the fourth time this season and eighth time in her 33-game career. Three of those eight games have come against the Nighthawks.
-North Georgia outshot the Black & Gold by a 20-5 margin, including 9-3 in shots on goal.
