PEMBROKE – Needing a win to host a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) quarterfinal match, the UNC Pembroke soccer team had a flare for the dramatic again Saturday on Senior Day, as
Stacey Scott headed home the game winner in the 97th-minute to send the Braves to a 1-0 victory over visiting Young Harris.

FIRST HALF
-The Braves fired four shots in the first half and forced Young Harris goalkeeper Nicole Medeiros to make two saves.

Katie Watkins each registered a shot attempt in the scoreless opening stanza.

Gina Ryan stopped both Mountain Lion shot attempts in the first half, one in the 12th-minute and again in the 34th-minute.
SECOND HALF
-Both sides got off four shots in the second half, but the lone shot on goal came off the foot of Rochelle in the 48th-minute that Medeiros cleaned up.
-The Braves took five corner kicks and one shot in a span of five minutes beginning in the 54th-minute, but were unable to put a shot on net.
-Two last-ditch UNCP efforts in the 87th- and 89th-minutes sailed wide right off the feet of
Kristina Stevenson and Rochelle.
FIRST OVERTIME
-Just over six minutes into the first extra period,
Kate Weisner outran the Young Harris right back down the sideline and sent a perfect cross into the box that Scott leaped and headed past Medeiros. It was the lone shot for either side in overtime.

-The Braves honored six seniors prior to the start of Saturday's game (

-Saturday marked the fifth time this season UNCP has found the back of the net with less than two minutes remaining in a half or scored in overtime.
-The Braves outshot Young Harris 9-6 and held a 4-2 edge in shots on goal.
-Rochell fired four of the Braves shots, while Scott unleashed a pair and Pittman, Stevenson and Watkins each added one.

Gina Ryan notched her PBC-leading eighth shutout of the season and also leads the league in goals against average (0.61) and save percentage (.873).
UP NEXT
Saturday's victory landed the Braves the No. 4-seed in the upcoming PBC Tournament. UNCP will play host to fifth-seeded Georgia College Tuesday evening at Lumbee River EMC Stadium. The start time has yet to be determined. The Bobcats (11-5-0, 7-3-0 PBC) knocked off No. 8 Columbus State on Saturday to claim the fifth seed. North Georgia will be the No. 1-seed in the league tournament, while No. 8 Columbus State and No. 17 Flagler will be seeded second and third, respectively. Young Harris claims the No. 6-seed, while Lander and USC Aiken will grab seeds seven and eight, respectively.
