PEMBROKE – Visiting Francis Marion logged 10 service aces and limited the UNC Pembroke volleyball team to a .025 hitting percentage in a straight-sets Patriot victory Friday night in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) action in Pembroke.

FIRST SET
-With the set knotted at 3-3, the Patriots claimed 10 of the next 12 points to grab a 13-5 lead and the Braves could not pull closer than five for the remainder of the stanza.
SECOND SET
-UNCP led by three at 8-5 after a Francis Marion service error, but the guests rebounded and rattled off a 10-3 run to flip the script and take a 15-11 lead.
-The Braves closed the deficit to one at 15-14 before the Patriots scored 10 of the final 14 points en route to a 25-18 set victory.
THIRD SET
-The Black & Gold held an early lead again in the third set (4-2) and trailed by just one (11-10) on a block by
Makaylah Elliott and
Aquia Jones.
-Francis Marion used two kills, two service aces and a pair of UNCP attack errors to grab the next six points and a 17-10 advantage before putting away the match on a trio of Braves' miscues in the final three points.
NOTABLES
-The Braves outhit the guests .280-.241 in the second set, but Francis Marion held a .115-.025 advantage across all three sets and notched 31 kills to UNCP's 20.
-UNCP held a slim 38-37 advantage in digs, but the Patriots logged all 10 of the match's service aces, including six from Georgia Harrison.
-Elliott and
Aquia Jones each notched five kills, while April Tankersley added four and Elly Hicks tacked on a trio of her own.

The Braves play host to a tri-match with Virginia State (9-13) and St. Andrews (19-8) on Saturday at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.
