PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke men's and women's basketball teams will wrap up a nearly week-long break from competition when the Braves pack up their show and head to Savannah, Ga., for a Wednesday doubleheader with Peach Belt Conference East Division foe Armstrong State.
 
Fans can follow both games for free via a live audio stream on the UNCP Braves YouTube channel with Cameron Songer handling the play-by-play duties. The game can also be followed via live video and statistics link provided by ASU as well.

WOMEN'S NOTES

• The Braves (15-8, 10-6 PBC) avenged an earlier loss their last time out, as UNCP stifled the USC Aiken offense in a 70-55 win at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. The Black & Gold held the Pacers to their lowest shooting percentage of the season (26.9) to improve to 11-1 at home this season.
• UNCP will carry a 4-7 road record into Wednesday's contest and the road struggles can be heavily attributed to the 3-point shooting away from home. While the Braves lead the PBC in 3-point shooting percentage (32.9) overall, a 28.8-percent clip on the road has limited the Black & Gold to over three points fewer in road contests this season.
• Junior Brianna Baham has cashed in double-digit points in six-straight games and 11 of the last 13 overall, while shooting the long ball at a 40.0-percent mark that's good for fourth-best in the league. Ebone Stevens leads all PBC shooters with a 43.5-percent clip from behind the arc and Blair Silliman ranks sixth in the league with a 36.7-percent conversion rate from deep.
• Armstrong State (8-17, 4-12 PBC) has dropped seven of its last eight games overall and three-consecutive outings at home. The Pirates last home victory came on January 18 and the Savannah, Ga., natives are just 4-8 at home this season.
• The Pirates are paced by Machala Raymonville's 16.0 points per game, while Mercedes Jenkins chips in 11.3 per contest. Armstrong State allows opponents to shoot 34.0 percent from long range, which is the worst perimeter defense in the PBC.
• Armstrong State holds a 28-17 advantage in the 45 all-time meetings between the squads, but UNCP got the best of the Pirates, 71-70, in a Jan. 28 meeting in Pembroke this season. Baham knocked down a free throw with 1.2 second on the clock to put the Braves up one and Raymonville's last-second 3-pointer was off the mark to complete the UNCP comeback after the Black & Gold was down eight points with under three minutes to play.

MEN'S NOTES

• The Braves (18-7, 11-5 PBC) kept pace in the race for the 2016-17 PBC regular season crown with a thrilling 77-72 overtime victory over USC Aiken last Wednesday at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. Mike Smith drilled a game-tying 3-pointer with 8.9 seconds left to send the game into overtime and help the Black & Gold extend its win streak out to four games.
• UNCP is 16-2 this season when holding opponents to 82 points or less, and just 2-5 when its opponents score 83 or more points. The Braves have also won two-straight road games, and are 7-4 in true road games in 2016-17.
• Freshman Akia Pruitt has reached double-digit scoring numbers in eight-straight games, and has registered three double-doubles over that span as well. The Winston-Salem native is has posted 14.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.3 steals over UNCP's current four-game win streak.
• The Braves have held opponents to just 40 percent field goal shooting over the last four games, including two instances (Flagler, USC Aiken) in which their foes shot sub-38 percent from the floor. UNCP has also posted 7.5 steals and 5.3 blocks per game over that stretch as well.
• Armstrong State (10-15, 5-11 PBC) has dropped four of its last five games since using a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to top the Braves, 87-84, on January 28 in Pembroke. The Pirates have also now dropped three-straight contests after Saturday's 88-76 road loss to Augusta.
• Corey Tillery ranks sixth among PBC leaders in scoring average (18.1 points/game), but K.J. James (15.8) and Denzel Council (15.0) both average 15.0 points per game or better as well. Tillery leads the league in 3-pointers made per game (3.5), while also ranking fifth among league leaders in 3-point field goal percentage (.444).
• Armstrong State leads the all-time series, 28-16, and has won two-straight matchups with the Braves. The Black & Gold is 10-5 against the Pirates since the start of the 2010-11 campaign, and has won four of the last five meetings with the Pirates in Alumni Arena.
