Nyla Allen knocked down a 3-pointer with 10 seconds to play in overtime to put the UNC Pembroke women's basketball squad up two, but Armstrong State's Machala Raymonville returned the favor at the other end with 2.9 ticks on the clock to ice the 73-72 Pirate victory Wednesday evening at Alumni Arena.
The road setback is the fifth straight of its kind for the Braves (15-9, 10-7 PBC), who used a 10-point edge in the second half to force extra time. The win is the first in the last three outings for the Pirates (9-17, 5-12), who avenge a 71-70 loss to the Black & Gold Jan. 28 in Pembroke.

Blair Silliman set career highs in points, as Allen went for 20 (all in the second half) and Silliman cashed in 14 on 4-of-8 shooting. Junior
Brandi Robinson matched a season best with 11 points and established a new best of five made field goals and 10 attempts from the floor.
UNCP took its first lead since 1-0 at the 2:45 mark of the third quarter when
Jonissa Monley poured in two of her eight points to give the guests a 40-38 lead. Down 46-44, the Pirates scored the final four points of the period to lead 48-46 with 10 minutes to play.
The Armstrong State 4-0 run was extended to 8-0 two minutes into the fourth and the Braves found themselves down six with under 6:30 to play. Silliman hit one of her four long balls with 3:37 on the clock to knot the game at 57-57 and
Brianna Baham banked in a layup the next time down to put UNCP up 59-57 with under three to play in regulation.
Down one with under 30 seconds remaining, the Braves fouled but Armstrong State's Mercedes Jenkins missed one of her two freebies to keep the difference at two before Monley took the ball in the post and converted with 12 ticks on the clock to force overtime.
Neither side led by more than two in the overtime period, but the Braves did not get a shot off in their final possession after Raymonville's 3-pointer.
The Black & Gold outrebounded the hosts 52-41, including a 30-16 advantage in the second half and overtime, and turned 16 offensive boards into 22 second-chance points. UNCP was whistled for 23 fouls to the Pirates' 12, resulting in seven more free-throw attempts for the home side (21-14).
The Braves will play their final road regular season game Saturday when they travel to St. Augustine, Florida to battle Flagler. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Flagler Gym. The Saints (4-20, 2-15 PBC) won their second league game Wednesday, an 80-78 overtime defeat of USC Aiken. On Feb. 1 in Pembroke, UNCP closed the game on a 15-0 run in the final three minutes to knock off Flagler 65-63.
