WILSON –
Ethan Baucom's 2-run home run gave the 27
th-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team the lead for good as the Braves rallied back from a pair of one-run deficits to finish off a season sweep of Barton with a 6-4 victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday at Nixon Field.

The result marked the 15
th win in the last 17 outings for the Braves (31-11) who have now won 10-straight games as well – the longest winning skein for the club since it opened the 2015 campaign with 11-straight victories. The setback snapped a three-game win streak for Barton (28-18) who has now dropped 13 of the last 17 series matchups with the Black & Gold as well.

It was the ninth four-bagger of the season for Baucom who registered a 2-for-3 hitting line to lead the 9-hit attack for the visitors.
Roberto Rivera singled twice and scored a pair of runs for the Braves as well. Shawn Montren singled twice and scored once on a 2-for-4 performance for Barton.

Aaron Biggerstaff (2-0) struck out two and yielded four hits over three innings of relief to grab the win for UNCP, while fellow newcomer
River Ryan worked a hitless ninth to notch his second save of the campaign.
Dale Masterson was effective in relief for the Braves as well, striking out two and allowing just two hits in scoreless seventh and eighth frames.

Andrew Davis (3-5) saddled the loss for the Bulldogs after surrendering three earned runs on as many hits in a trio of innings from the hill. He also struck out two.

Barton scratched the scoreboard first thanks to a wild pitch in the bottom of the first inning, but the Braves pushed across three runs in the top of the third to go out in front, 3-1. The Bulldogs evened the score back up in the bottom of the frame, however, thanks to a bases-loaded walk and a costly error by the visitors.

Barton used another ill-timed error by the Braves to grab a 4-3 advantage in the sixth, but the Black & Gold knotted the score back up on
Jarratt Mobley's RBI single with one out in the seventh, and then provided the winning margin on Baucom's dramatics moments later.

The Braves will close out the home portion of their 2017 regular season schedule on Saturday when they suit up to battle region rival Coker (22-18) in a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Sammy Cox Field. The twinbill will mark the front half of a four-game series with the Cobras that will conclude with a double dip in Hartsville, S.C., on Sunday.
