HOW IT HAPPENED |
1ST QUARTER |
Alecia Hardy's layup with 4:23 remaining in the first quarter ignited the Braves offense, who shot nearly 67 percent in the quarter. Aliyah Famer pushed the advantage for the hosts out to eight points, 24-16, with a buzzer-beating layup. |
2ND QUARTER |
Brianna Baham and Alecia Hardy continued to pad the lead for the Braves on back-to-back 3-pointers, the second of which put the visitors out in front, 30-16, with 8-1/2 minutes left in the opening half. Chowan took advantage of a nearly 8-1/2 minute scoring drought by the Braves after that, and closed out the period with an 18-3 run to take a 34-33 lead into the locker rooms. |
3RD QUARTER |
The Braves pulled to within two points, 40-38, on a perimeter basket from Tee Graham with 6:45 left in the quarter, but that signaled a scoring drought for both teams that lasted a good part of the next three minutes of play. The Hawks broke the silence on a fastbreak layup from Jada Lee with four minutes left in the quarter, and preserved the lead heading into the final period. |
4TH QUARTER |
Chowan led by three points, 56-53, on Jada Lee's jumper with 2-1/2 minutes remaining, but Aliyah Farmer made it a one-point game with 51 seconds left on a jumper in the paint. The Hawks failed to score on the ensuing possession and Tee Graham grabbed a huge rebound, but the Braves missed a 3-pointer coming out of a timeout, and then turned the ball over on its next two possessions to seal the outcome. |
