PEMBROKE – No. 23 North Georgia matched a season high with nine made 3-pointers and outscored the UNC Pembroke women's basketball squad 24-12 to fuel a 70-57 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) victory over the Braves on Sunday afternoon in Pembroke.

FIRST QUARTER
-The Braves led by as many as five after a pair of
Brandi Robinson free throws with 3:30 on the clock, but North Georgia closed the quarter on a 10-4 run to lead 16-15 after one.
SECOND QUARTER
-UNCP retook the lead 22-21 on a
Melanie Horne jumper at the 4:36 mark of the quarter before the Nighthawks scored five-straight points to regain control.
-North Georgia's Abbie Franklin buried a jumper from the right baseline as time expired to send the guests into the locker rooms with a 32-28 lead.
THIRD QUARTER
-After scoring 32 points in the first half, North Georgia exploded for 24 points on 10-of-18 (55.6%) shooting in the third quarter to stretch its lead to 16 after three.
-The Braves were within seven with 4:11 to play, but the guests scored 13 of the final 17 points in the stanza to pull away.
FOURTH QUARTER
-UNCP got as close as 11 when
Alecia Hardy hit a jumper with 5:13 to play, but a 7-0 North Georgia run immediately following the basket gave the Nighthawks their largest lead of the game at 68-50.
NOTABLES
-Sunday's 57-point output snaps a streak of five-straight games of scoring at least 69 points for UNCP and nine-straight 60-plus point performances. The Braves fall to 0-7 when failing to score 60 points.
-UNCP's 30.4-percent mark from the field is its lowest since the matchup with the Nighthawks in Dahlonega on Dec. 30 when the Braves were held to 29.0-percent shooting.
-The Braves committed just nine turnovers, which is their third-lowest mark of the season and converted 16 North Georgia miscues into 24 points on the other end.

Nyla Allen logged her second-consecutive double-double with a team-high 16 points and 12 rebounds. She has four double-doubles in the last six games and six total this season.
-UNCP remains half a game ahead of Young Harris for the eighth spot in the PBC standings with four league games to play. The top eight teams advance to the conference tournament that begins Feb. 28.
-North Georgia's Deana Blankinship poured in a game-best 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while Franklin and Amber Skidgel each added double-digit points.

The Braves wrap up a three-game home stand on Wednesday when USC Aiken treks to Pembroke for the annual Play4Kay game to support breast cancer awareness.
