Wrestling Hosts Coker On Tuesday Evening

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke wrestling team will return to the friendly confines of home for the first time in three weeks on Tuesday when the Braves suit up to battle Coker in a 7 p.m. Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) dual meet at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. Admission is free.
 
Fresh off of a 37-9 shellacking of Emmanuel on Friday evening in Franklin Springs, Ga., the Braves (9-10, 2-1 ECAC) will head into Tuesday's matchup having won three of their last four dual meets. Coker (5-9, 1-3) has dropped its last six dual meets dating back to January 11, including a 0-4 showing at the Super Region II Duals last weekend in Belmont.
 
The Black & Gold showcases five wrestlers with 22 or more victories this season, including 125-pounder Nick Daggett (24-11) who has registered 15 bonus-point wins in 2017-18 as well. Junior Faris Teia (22-8), the starter for UNCP at 184 pounds, has won 16 of his last 17 on the mat, and will ride a nine-match win streak into Tuesday.
 
Luis Peguero (197 pounds) has recorded a team-best 18 victories for the Cobras this season, while 149-pounder Matthew Kieta is second on the active roster with 13 wins in 2017-18.
