PEMBROKE – The 21st-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team hit .714 with runners in scoring position and scored 10 times in the first two innings on the way to an 11-3 victory over visiting Indiana (Pa.) in the front half of a series-opening doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Sammy Cox Field.

Seth Hartings doubled twice and drove in four runs on a 2-for-3 outing to pace the Braves (4-0), while Jarratt Mobley hit his first home run of the season to highlight a 2-for-4, 3-RBI game. Kevon Perkins scored twice on a 2-for-3 hitting line for the hosts as well.

Wes Carson hit a 2-run homer for the Crimson Hawks (0-1) who opened their 2018 campaign on Friday in Pembroke. Chris Eisel turned in a 2-for-4 day at the plate as well.

Anthony Burke (2-0) struck out four and scattered three earned runs across six innings of work to win his eighth-straight start for the Black & Gold. Jeff Allen (0-1) surrendered nine runs (seven earned) on five hits and four walks in just 1-2/3 innings of work to take the loss for IUP.

The Braves tacked up four runs on just two hits in the bottom of the first, and then added six more runs on five hits in the second to all but put the game out of reach.
