PEMBROKE – Officials from both The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and Catawba College announced Tuesday afternoon that Saturday's evening's football contest at Shuford Stadium in Salisbury has been canceled citing safety concerns. There are no plans to make the game up at this time.
 
Upon their return to Pembroke once campus has been deemed safe, the Braves (1-1) will begin preparations to make the trip to Greeneville, Tenn., to take on Tusculum (1-1) on September 22 at Pioneer Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
The Black & Gold will return home again on September 29 when they suit up to battle Newberry in a 7 p.m. contest as part of Parents & Families Weekend in Pembroke.
