HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER
The Braves jumped out to an early 5-0 lead off of Tee Graham's 3-ball just two minutes into the game. The Jaguars knotted the score at five points apiece on a Kiera Howard layup at the 4:55 mark, and would go use a 13-2 to take a commanding 18-7 advantage. Tee Graham's 3-pointer at the buzzer made it an 18-10 game heading into the second period.
2ND QUARTER
UNC Pembroke cut its deficit back to four points, 23-19 on two free throws by Melanie Horne at the 5:09 mark, but the Jaguars took advantage of a nearly five-minute scoring drought by the Braves to extend their lead 28-19 with 3:15 remaining in the half. The Black & Gold scored the last five points of the half, however, and trotted into the locker rooms with just a four-point deficit, 28-24.
3RD QUARTER
Aliyah Farmer's fastbreak layup three minutes into the quarter brought the Braves within two points of the hosts, 28-26. UNC Pembroke cut its deficit back to one point off of Tee Graham's 3-pointer with 2:43 left in the quarter, but the hosts would eventually lug a 40-35 lead into the final period of regulation.
4TH QUARTER
UNC Pembroke tied the game at 53 apiece thanks to Tee Graham's jumper with 36 seconds remaining, and gained possession in a tie game with 13 seconds left. Augusta was up to the challenge, however, and forced a turnover under the basket to force overtime.
OVERTIME
Augusta opened the overtime period with consecutive 3-pointers to grab a quick 59-55 advantage just 84 seconds in, and the Braves went 1-for-6 from the field the rest of the way out. Tee Graham missed a potential game-tying trey with 18 seconds left, and the hosts drained a pair of free throws on the other end of the court to seal the outcome.
