JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Home-standing Carson-Newman racked up more than 500 yards of total offense, including 397 on the ground, and forced five turnovers on the way to registering a 69-18 victory over the UNC Pembroke football team on Saturday at Burke-Tarr Stadium.
The setback marked the first consecutive losses of the season for the Braves (2-3) who fell to 2-4 all-time in the series with the Eagles, including a 1-2 record in Jefferson City. It was the third-straight series win for Carson-Newman (3-1) who matched a trio of school records in Saturday's triumph.

1ST QUARTER |
Aided by a costly pass interference penalty on 3rd Down early in the drive, the Braves drove 71 yards on 20 plays before settling for a 21-yard field goal from Hunter Braswell. UNCP 3, Carson-Newman 0
The Eagles needed just less than three minutes to take the lead for good on the ensuing possession. Antonio Wimbush ran five times for 58 yards, including a 32-yard scamper on a key third down, to eventually set up a 4-yard scoring dive from Marcus Williams. The Eagles extended their lead with a touchdown on their initial possession of the second quarter, driving 72 yards on 10 plays. Troy Dendy carried the ball four times for 39 yards on the drive, including a 12-yard touchdown run. Carson-Newman 13, UNCP 3

Antonio Wimbush scampered 53 yards on the opening play of the first half to get the offense churning for the hosts again. The Eagles gained 63 yards on five run plays to open the drive, but scored on Derrick Evans's 8-yard pass to Braxton Westfield. Carson-Newman 20, UNCP 3
The Braves lit up the scoreboard again on the ensuing possession, driving 75 yards on 10 plays in just less than six minutes of possession time. Josh Jones completed all three of his pass attempts for 43 yards, including a 34-yard scoring strike to Marcus McDonald. Carson-Newman 20, UNCP 10
The Eagles needed just more than two minutes to answer the score by the Braves. Derrick Evans completed a 52-yard pass to Romain Kelly on the opening play of the drive, and Evans capped off the touchdown drive with a 1-yard run up the middle. Carson-Newman 27, UNCP 10

Carson-Newman used a 47-yard pass play to extend a late third-quarter drive into the fourth quarter, but DeAngelo Blair-Young scooped up a fumble on the first play from scrimmage in the final period and raced 66 yards for a touchdown. Carson-Newman 34, UNCP 18
Carson-Newman keyed a 3-play, 60-yard drive on the ensuing possession with Troy Dendy's 49-yard run on second down. The Eagles followed that up with Demetri Saulsberry's 6-yard touchdown run. Carson-Newman 41, UNCP 18

+ Redshirt sophomore Marcus McDonald hauled in a quartet of catches for 51 yards and a third-quarter touchdown, while senior Quay Threatt caught six passes for 43 yards.
+ Junior Isaac Parks punted four times for a 47.8-yard average on the day, including a 52-yard punt in the second quarter.
+ Jordan Howard (1 solo), Domenique Davis (1 solo) and Luke Brooks all registered a team-best seven tackles on the day for Code Black. Davis also turned in a two-yard tackle for loss. |
