GREENSBORO – The UNC Pembroke swimming team shattered five school records and won all nine events on the way to capturing top honors at the Guilford College Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Freshman Ketlyn Rodriguez Matos eclipsed records in four individual events – 100-yard Breaststroke, 100-yard Freestyle, 50-yard Freestyle and 200-yard Individual Medley – and swam a leg on the 200-yard Freestyle Relay that bested the school record by nearly 1-1/2 seconds as well.

Rodriguez Matos, who busted her own week-old school records in both the 100-yard Breaststroke and the 200-yard Individual Medley, teamed up with Bianca Bateman, Jaycie Knight and fellow newcomer Sarah Morden to break the 200-yard Freestyle Relay record.

Rodriguez Matos won five of the seven individual events on Saturday, while Megan Hunter placed first in the 200-yard Freestyle and Jaycie Knight raked in medalist honors in the 100-yard Backstroke. The Braves occupied the top two spots in six events, and went 1-2-3 in four of those disciplines.

The Braves will be back in action again on October 12 when they head to Hickory to battle Lenoir-Rhyne in the Shuford Center. The dual meet is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m.
