MISENHEIMER – The UNC Pembroke swimming team walked to the top of the podium in nine of 10 events, including a pair of individual event titles from both
Megan Hunter and
Ketlyn Rodriguez Matos, to cruise past both Pfeiffer and Sweet Briar in Merner Gymnasium.
Hunter took top honors in the 200-yard Freestyle by more than four seconds, and then out-paced four other competitors in the 500-yard Freestyle by more than 14 seconds later in the session. Rodriguez Matos edged teammate
Bianca Bateman by 0.87 seconds in the 50-yard Freestyle event, and then won the 200-yard Individual Medley by nearly nine seconds.
Bateman captured the event title in the 100-yard Butterfly,
Jaycie Knight was at the front of the pack in the 100-yard Backstroke and
Sarah Morden led a 1-2-3 finish for the Black & Gold in the 100-yard Breaststroke to wrap up the other individual event winners. UNCP won both the 200-yard Medley Relay and 200-yard Freestyle Relay as well.
The Braves will be back in action again on November 16 when they trek to Wilson to go head-to-head with both Barton and Hampden-Sydney inside the Harrison Family YMCA.
