BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – An unblemished run to championship honors at the Georgia Open on Saturday proved even more fruitful for junior Jonathan Miller on Tuesday when the Wilmington native picked up Mountain East Conference Wrestler of the Week laurels.
 
Miller, NCAA Division II's eighth-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds, racked up five victories at the Emmanuel-hosted event on Saturday, and capped off the undefeated run with a 9-4 win over teammate Ethan Hnasko in the title bout. He also tallied his first pin of the season along the way – a first-period win by fall over Spartanburg Methodist's Douglas Burkhead.
 
The E.A. Laney High School product has amassed a 34-15 (.694) record in two-plus seasons in the Black & Gold, including 14 bonus-point victories. He turned in a 23-12 mark last season on the way, as well as an NCAA region title and a trip to the NCAA Division II National Championships.
 
The Braves will make their 2019-20 home debut on Sunday when they suit up to host the 39^th Annual Pembroke Classic on Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. Wrestling action is scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m.
