YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris shot better than 47 percent from the perimeter and bridged the first and second quarters with a 21-6 run to key a 62-54 victory over the UNC Pembroke women's basketball team on Saturday at the YHC Basketball Arena.
The setback marked the fourth-straight road loss for the Braves (8-15, 7-10 PBC) who fell to 2-9 away from Pembroke this season with the loss. It is the second win in the last three outings for the Mountain Lions (5-19, 3-15) who snapped a 12-game skid with a 79-78 victory over Georgia Southwestern last weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED |
1ST QUARTER |
UNC Pembroke scored the first five points of the game and took advantage of a 1-for-9 shooting performance from Young Harris to fuel 9-0 run that stretch their lead out to 14-2 with three minutes left in the period. The Mountain Lions closed the opening period with seven-straight points, however, to cut their deficit back to five points, 14-9. |
2ND QUARTER |
Avery Locklear's layup just 34 seconds into the quarter padded the Braves lead out to 16-9, but Young Harris scored the next nine points and took its first lead of the afternoon, 18-16, with four minutes left in the half. The Braves got a steal and had a chance to take a lead into the locker rooms, but Tee Graham's 3-point attempt danced around the rim and bounced out to keep the score at a standstill. |
3RD QUARTER |
Two quick baskets from Tee Graham in the first two minutes of the second half pushed the Black & Gold back out in front by three points, 30-27, but the Mountain Lions scored 14 of the final 20 points of the third quarter to take a 41-36 advantage into the final period. |
4TH QUARTER |
The hosts led by as many as 10 points, 48-38, after two free throws from Elle Hutchinson with 7:35 left to play. The Braves trimmed their deficit back to 48-45 following an old-fashioned 3-point play from Alecia Hardy at the four minute mark, but Young Harris pushed its lead back to eight points, 55-47, just less than two minutes later. |

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE |
+ Avery Locklear and Aliyah Farmer both scored a team-high 13 points. Locklear added five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. Farmer pulled down five rebounds and tallied one steal.
+ Tee Graham scored in double figures for the sixth-straight game, this time totaling 11 points while also adding seven rebounds, three steals and one assist.
+ Alecia Hardy flirted with her first career double-double by tallying nine points and eight boards. She also had a career-high three blocks, and provided three assists and one steal as well. |
