Perimeter Shooting Lifts Young Harris Past Women’s Basketball

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.  – Young Harris shot better than 47 percent from the perimeter and bridged the first and second quarters with a 21-6 run to key a 62-54 victory over the UNC Pembroke women's basketball team on Saturday at the YHC Basketball Arena.

The setback marked the fourth-straight road loss for the Braves (8-15, 7-10 PBC) who fell to 2-9 away from Pembroke this season with the loss. It is the second win in the last three outings for the Mountain Lions (5-19, 3-15) who snapped a 12-game skid with a 79-78 victory over Georgia Southwestern last weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER

The Braves got a steal and had a chance to take a lead into the locker rooms, but Tee Graham's 3-point attempt danced around the rim and bounced out to keep the score at a standstill.
3RD QUARTER
Two quick baskets from Tee Graham in the first two minutes of the second half pushed the Black & Gold back out in front by three points, 30-27, but the Mountain Lions scored 14 of the final 20 points of the third quarter to take a 41-36 advantage into the final period.
4TH QUARTER
The hosts led by as many as 10 points, 48-38, after two free throws from Elle Hutchinson with 7:35 left to play. The Braves trimmed their deficit back to 48-45 following an old-fashioned 3-point play from Alecia Hardy at the four minute mark, but Young Harris pushed its lead back to eight points, 55-47, just less than two minutes later.
