PEMBROKE – Robeson County natives Vonta Leach and Brad Allen, as well as basketball greats Chris Corchiani, Denny Crum, Joe Gallagher and Derek Whittenburg, will highlight the night for the UNC Pembroke athletics department when the Braves host their seventh annual Cash Bash: A Night With The Stars on April 26 inside English E. Jones Center.
Tables for the event which is presented by Scotland Health can be purchased for $1,000 and features priority seating for eight, dinner with a coach or student-athletes, video board signage, individual or business listing and a raffle entry for each guest. Individual tickets can be purchased for $125. The event will feature entertainment, live and silent auctions and a catered meal with an open bar.

The Cash Bash is one of the department's premier fundraising events that benefits the Braves Club scholarship fund. Proceeds from the event support all 16 varsity athletics programs, as well as nearly 400 student-athletes.
"The Cash Bash has become a signature event for our programs and is something that we hope will springboard our fundraising events into the future," said UNCP director of athletics
Dick Christy. "It is a great chance for current and prospective donors to get involved, have fun and meet some of our coaches, staff and student-athletes."
Preliminary live auction items will be announced at a later date, but include exclusive sport and vacation experiences, as well as autographed items from luminaries around the sports world.

Vonta Leach |
A native of Rowland, Leach was a standout for South Robeson High School before playing four seasons at East Carolina. An undrafted free agent, he played 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of four different teams. A three-time NFL All-Pro selection, he helped lead the Baltimore Ravens to the championship in Super Bowl XLVII and finished his professional career with 11 touchdowns. |
Brad Allen |
A 1991 graduate of UNC Pembroke, Allen recently completed his fifth season as a referee in the National Football League (NFL). In 2014, he became the first rookie NFL official in the Super Bowl era to be the lead official of a crew in his first season. His first game was at Soldier Field in Chicago, as the Bears hosted the Buffalo Bills. Allen also served as the keynote speaker at the Cash Bash in 2016. |
Chris Corchiani |
A standout at NC State from 1988-91, Corchiani was the first NCAA Division I player to record 1,000 career assists. He led the nation with 9.7 assists per game as a senior in 1990-91, and wrapped up his collegiate career in fifth place on the NCAA's all-time steals list. He was selected by the Orlando Magic in the second round of the 1991 NBA Draft, and played 11 years on the professional level that also included stops with the Boston Celtics and Washington Bullets. |
Denny Crum |
A three-time national coach of the year selection, Crum registered 675 victories as head coach of the Louisville Cardinals from 1971-2001. Crum led Louisville to 23 NCAA Tournament appearances, including six trips to the Final Four, as well as a pair of national championships (1980, 1986). He became the fastest coach in NCAA history to record 500 victories (1993), and currently ranks 16th on the NCAA's all-time wins list. |
Joe Gallagher |
A two-time all-America selection for the Braves from 1965-68, Gallagher wrapped up his collegiate playing career with 2,161 points – a school record that still stands today. Following his standout playing career, Gallagher began a career in coaching and eventually led the Braves to 42 victories from 1975-78. His collegiate coaching career also included stops at Methodist, Richmond, Belmont Abbey, UNC Greensboro and Campbell, but he eventually served as an assistant coach in the NBA with both the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers. |
