Cash Bash Tops Record Amount For UNCP Athletics

May 7, 2026

PEMBROKE - Athletics department officials at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced Thursday that the 13th annual Cash Bash, presented by Scotland Health, fundraising event raised more than $220,000 for the department's general scholarship fund.

According to Braves Club Director, Monica Strickland, the total of $221,017.08 marks the highest total raised by the event in the 13-year history of the department's premier fundraising event.

Brian Calabria served as the program's emcee and auctioneer for the event that featured over 70 silent auction items and experiences and six premiere live auction items.

The annual event has generated over $800,000 for our student-athlete scholarships over the last five years.

"This was my first Cash Bash, and wow, what an incredible night with an incredible group of people," said incoming Director of Athletics Scott Byrd. "BraveNation stepped up with record support which reflects their belief in this amazing institution and the student-athletes that represent it. I can not say thank you enough to all the people involved that made it such a special night. The future is bright for UNCP athletics and it's so encouraging to see so many people believe in that vision in such a tangible way."

The Cash Bash is one of the department's premier fundraising events that benefits the Braves Club scholarship fund. Proceeds from the event support all 16 varsity athletics programs, as well as nearly 400 student-athletes. Next year's event has been tentatively scheduled for April 29th, 2027, so mark your calendars.
