DAYTONA BEACH, Fla . – Senior
Javon Graham (110-meter Hurdles) and freshmen
Quanterra Harrison (100-meter Hurdles) and
Dy'Air McCormick all captured event titles to lead both the UNC Pembroke men's and women's track teams to a runner-up finish at the 2019 Peach Belt Conference Championships on Saturday.
It is the third-straight year that UNCP's men's squad has finished first or second at the postseason event, while the women's team matched its highest finish (2016-17) at the conference championships with their weekend performance. Both teams were tops among the five traditional league members competing at the event.
Embry-Riddle, an associate member of the PBC in outdoor track & field, captured the league title on both sides. Nova Southeastern, another associate member of the PBC, finished third.
The Braves finished the three-day event with a combined nine event titles, as well as 34 all-conference awards. UNCP also picked up four individual meet awards as well –
Silus Kipkoech (PBC Men's Track Athlete of the Year),
Jamar Adams (Men's Freshman Track Athlete of the Year),
Terrence Lackey (Men's Freshman Field Athlete of the Year) and
Quanterra Harrison (Women's Freshman Track Athlete of the Year).
UNCP will return to action on May 12 when returns to Mount Olive for the NCAA Last Chance Qualifier.
