NACMA Awards 2019

UNC Pembroke Decorated With Six NACMA “Best Of” Awards

June 13, 2019

ORLANDO – The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) has honored the UNC Pembroke external operations team with six 'Best of Awards' for the 2018-19 athletic year, including a trio of gold medal commendations.

Initiated in 2003, the NACMA "Best Of" Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 16 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness. Nearly 1,000 entries were received for the 2018-19 year. The winners were recognized on Wednesday during NACMA's 28th Annual Convention.

UNCP falls into Group III which represents all Division II Institutions, Division III Institutions, NAIA Institutions, Junior College Institutions, Community College Institutions and Canadian Institutions.

The Braves earned gold medals under the categories of "Community Engagement And Public Relations", as well as "Revenue-Producing Video" and "Revenue-Generating Idea." The community engagement and public relations award came for UNCP's efforts during football's American Indian Heritage Day, while the revenue-producing video culminated baseball's inaugural Bark In The Park event during the 2018 season. The department's silent auction of game-worn replica Lumbee Tribe-inspired football jerseys, and the concurrent sale of replica t-shirts, spawned the award for revenue-generating idea.

The department earned silver medals under the categories of "Static Promotion Ad" and "Single Game Sales Campaign," while also picking up bronze for "Digital Promotion." The digital promotion award came as a result of the department's efforts during basketball's Social Media Night in January, while an ad run during that campaign was lauded with the honor for static promotion ad. The single game sales campaign award came as a result of the department's efforts during football's Military Appreciation Night.
