HUNINGTON, W.Va. –
Erman Jepleting won event titles in both the 1-Mile and 800-meter Runs, while
Aly Hudspeth climbed to the top of the podium in the High Jump, to lead the UNC Pembroke women's indoor track & field team to the 2020 Mountain East Conference Championships.
Jepleting broke her own school record with a time of 5:15.59 in the Mile Run, while shattering her own school record with a mark of 2:18.37. Hudspeth was first among 15 competitors in the High Jump with a personal-best leap of 1.62 meters.
On the men's side,
Jathan DeBerry captured an event title in the 60-meter hurdles with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 8.20 to help lead the men's team to a runner-up finish in the final team standings.
Joshua Chepkesir also registered an NCAA provisional qualifying mark with a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter Run with a time of 8:17.86.
Jepleting was named Female Track Athlete of the Year, while Chepkesir was named Male Track Athlete of the Year. Chepkesir was also voted as the Men's Most Outstanding Performer after scoring 30 points across the two-day event.
Dr. Peter Ormsby, UNCP's Director of Cross Country/Track & Field, was named MEC Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year.
