Baseball Walks Off Again, Completes Sweep Of USC Aiken

PEMBROKE – Bobby Dixon's 3-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning sent the game into extra frames, and the UNC Pembroke baseball team used Ethan Baucom's solo blast with two outs in the bottom of the 10th to walk off with an 11-10 victory over USC Aiken on Sunday afternoon at Sammy Cox Field.
 
It was the sixth-straight home win for the Braves (10-5, 4-2 PBC) who posted its first weekend sweep of the Pacers since the 1998 campaign. It was the sixth-straight series loss for the Pacers (8-4, 2-4) who have come up empty-handed in their last six contests at Sammy Cox Field as well.

KEY INNINGS
BOT 4 Trevor Clemons and Bobby Dixon both reached via walk to start the frame, and the Braves knotted the game up at two runs apiece on Jarratt Mobley's RBI single moments later. The hosts followed with five-straight hits, including run-scoring knocks from River Ryan, Connor Grainger and Garrett Littleton, to take a 6-2 lead into the fifth.
TOP 6 USC Aiken loaded the bases with its first three at-bats of the sixth inning and pulled to within a run on Eric McGirt's bases-clearing double to the gap in right field. McGirt would later score on a passed ball to knot things back up.
TOP 8 The Pacers loaded the bases with its first four at-bats in the eighth and took the lead on Jacob Boyd's two-run single up the middle. Jeff Cyr's RBI double in the next at-bat pushed the visitors' lead out to three runs, 10-7.
BOT 9 Baucom reached on a throwing error to start the bottom of the ninth, Trevor Clemons climbed aboard via a one-out single and Bobby Dixon absolutely clobbered a two-strike offering off of the trees in left field to tie the game.
BOT 10 USC Aiken reliever Jacob Rye retired the first two Braves he faced, but Ethan Baucom hammered the first pitch he saw over the fence in left field to provide the final.

UP NEXT
UNCP will continue a six-game home stand next weekend when they take on Claflin (2-7, 0-5 PBC) in a three-game series at Sammy Cox Field. The squads will open the set with a 6 p.m. first pitch on Friday.
